Today’s is the 80’s Film classic that stars Tom Hanks as a child in a mans body. It’s…. Big. A heart-warming tale of a youngster humiliated when trying to impress an older girl, who then finds a wish/fortune telling machine Zoltar Speaks where he makes the wish to be big! He awakes up in the morner to find has aged to become a 30 year old man!

After being nearly attacked by his mother not realising its her son, he escapes and finds his best friend who believes him and finds a job in New York working on computers for a toy company.

In perhaps one of the most iconic scenes of the 80’s he meets the companies boss where he then proceeds to play chopsticks with him on a giant piano! This has been parodied all over the place including the Simpson’s.

Tom Hanks actually puts in a deserved oscar nominated performance and keeps you glued to your seat. Worth a punt to watch this if you’ve never seen it

For the first film I’m going to recommend is a new film that I hadn’t come across before a few days called ‘They Live’ WWF Wrestler ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper who plays John Nada a homeless labourer.

He discovers some strange goings on at a local church and after the police raid the local area investigates inside the church. He finds a box full of sunglasses, takes one for himself and hides the rest in garbage.

Eventually he puts on the sunglasses and becomes aware of the subliminal messages in all the media such as a billboard now simply displays the word "Obey"; without them it displays the ad that Control Data is "creating a transparent computing environment".

He soon discovers that the world has been influtrated by aliens (looks like he needs some fluorodine toothpaste on their teeth!!) who can only see with his rather large glasses on. Shocked and slightly peeved he goes out to stop them, not before a long fight scene with his buddy (voted in the top 10 fight scenes in movies! No less!), getting knocked out a 3rd story window by the woman he kidnaps and discovers the TV studio is the centre of the aliens operations.

Some nice use of communicators used by the aliens are the same prop that was used as the PKE Meter in both Ghostbusters features.
